Welcome!
If you have never been in therapy before, you will be surprised by how comfortable and enjoyable it actually is. If you’ve been to therapy before, we hope we can show you an individualized and client centered experience that will deepen and strengthen the work you have already done. When starting therapy, whether it is your first time or you are starting to work with us after having met with a previous provider, it is common to wonder what the sessions will be like and what to expect from the process. We encourage you to ask questions, and share any hesitations, fears, or doubts about therapy. Our goal is to provide you a welcoming safe space for you to face any behavior or belief that is holding you back from the life you want to live.

Deciding to start therapy
The first step in beginning therapy is often the hardest to take. It is common for people to question whether therapy can actually help them, and what to look for when choosing a therapist. The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone. Therapy allows a space for you to explore and normalize the worries you may have, we offer free initial phone consultations to new clients in order to help answer any questions you may have about therapy, and work together to determine whether our approach and expertise is a good fit for your needs.
Your first appointment
Your first session will be different than any other. During this session, your therapist will ask a lot of questions and try to gather as much information about your background, current struggles, and what you hope to gain from treatment. During the follow up sessions, we will take time to carefully discuss your areas of concern. Consider the initial session as a way of providing an outline that will help provide relevant information for treatment planning.
How to prepare/What to bring
Allow yourself a time to reflect before and after session. Writing down key words, goals or questions may be helpful to make sure we don’t forget anything. Additionally, there will be new client paperwork that you will need to fill out prior to us meeting that we will send to you via email. In order to save time, it is helpful to complete the paperwork prior to coming in to your session. We will go over the consent forms and treatment expectations together at the beginning of your first session. This will be a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you have regarding treatment.
