Anxiety

Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worry, and physical changes such as an increase in blood pressure. Anxiety is common in normal stressful situations such as when taking an exam. Those who suffer with anxiety usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns.

What are its symptoms?

While anxiety as an emotion is particular enough to be recognized on its own, its regular interchange with general worry or short-lived agitation may sometimes make it tough to identify. Below are some symptoms that can help identify the signs of anxiety:

  • A persistent difficulty in concentration, rapid incoherent thoughts, and a lasting feeling of panic.

  • Struggles regarding falling asleep and the ability to rest.

  • Curbed appetite, or sudden changes in appetite.

  • Frequent perspiration, especially in the palms of one’s hands, along with an abnormally fast heart rate.

  • A recurrent feeling of not being able to intake or release breath.

How can we help?

Anxiety is a taxing experience to go through; this is why seeking the help of a mental health professional can help alleviate and manage agonizing symptoms. Reaching out is already the first step in the process of your betterment and another step closer to overcoming the obstacles that your anxiety presents.
